Blogger on security and IT, Bernd Marienfeldt, has revealed that using a four-digit PIN to lock an iPhone does not protect data, reports PC World.
In an article describing the business security of the iPhone, Marienfeldt found a vulnerability in the data protection of Apple’s iPhone 3GS. Marienfeldt and security expert Jim Herbeck were able to demonstrate this vulnerability on at least three different models of iPhone with different software versions (including the latest one). Using Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, they were able to see almost all user data, such as music, images, videos, audio recordings, etc., on all iPhones connected to a computer that were protected by a four-digit PIN.
