In the repeated part of the trial for the Brodokomerc affair at the County Court in Rijeka, Josip Gucić has been provisionally sentenced to two years and six months in prison, reports hrt.hr.
By combining the two-year prison sentence from the first part of the trial and the sentence handed down today for this Rijeka affair, he has been punished with a total of four years of unified prison sentence. The director of Brodokomerc at that time, Goran Čulić, was sentenced to one year, while the then director of the company Eurona, also at that time in Gucić’s ownership, Nenad Bukvić, received a conditional sentence of 10 months in prison for a period of two years. Gucić and Čulić were convicted of inciting abuse of position and authority, while Bukvić was convicted of abuse. In 1994, Gucić and Čulić incited Bukvić to transfer an apartment owned by Eurona, worth 100,000 German marks at the time, to Čulić, and Bukvić did so with the understanding that the money for that apartment was never paid to the company. Judge Ika Šarić stated that there is no evidence that the money was ever paid and that the documentation from Eurona was destroyed before the court proceedings began.
