A ceremonial oath for 120 newly appointed judges of the Court of Honor for first-instance and second-instance councils at the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) was held.
The President of HGK, Nadan Vidošević, emphasized that this year marks the 21st anniversary of the Court of Honor at HGK, which was established with the aim of promoting and strengthening integrity and honesty as well as moral rules in business. The issue of social morality is a fundamental question for Croatian society, he stated, highlighting that there can be no happy, wealthy, and prospective society without morality. The construction of social values and morality cannot be decreed; no one is mandated to be successful, wealthy, or happy; it depends on us, Vidošević noted, adding that as society develops and progresses, the role of the Court of Honor will become increasingly significant.
The Court of Honor was established to promote and strengthen integrity and honesty as well as moral rules, education, and ethical development of members, by pointing out behaviors that are contrary to good business practices and fundamental principles of mandatory law and the rules that apply in their business, protecting members and consumers, and enhancing the economy and the chamber system as a whole. The Court of Honor decides on violations of good business practices in conducting economic activities and the trade of goods and services in Croatia, on the non-fulfillment of obligations by HGK members, and the implementation of the statutes and general acts of HGK. The manner of election, jurisdiction of the Court of Honor, and measures it can impose, the composition and organization of the Court of Honor, and the procedure before the Court of Honor are regulated by the HGK Statute or other general act of the Assembly.
