Of the total of 158 members of the Faculty Council in a broader composition, 153 members attended the meeting, of which 82 gave their trust to prof. dr. sc. Tonći Lazibat in the second round of voting for the next two-year term.
His opponent in the second round was prof. dr. sc. Vesna Vašiček, who received 60 votes. The electoral commission declared eight ballots invalid. Let us recall that the Faculty Council in a širer composition accepted the programs of three nominees at its meeting held on May 5 – prof. dr. sc. Tonći Lazibat (nominee from the Department of Trade), prof. dr. sc. Mirjana Pejić Bach (nominee from the Department of Informatics), and prof. dr. sc. Vesna Vašiček (nominee from the Department of Accounting), after which the rector and the Senate of the University of Zagreb gave their consent to their programs. In the first round of voting, 76 members of the Faculty Council voted for prof. dr. sc. Tonći Lazibat, 57 gave their trust to prof. dr. sc. Vesna Vašiček, while candidate prof. dr. sc. Mirjana Pejić Bach received 16 votes. In the first round of voting, there were four invalid ballots. The Faculty Council in a širer composition of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zagreb decided on the election of the new dean by secret ballot. The body that decides on the election of the dean has 158 members, consisting of the current dean, all teachers in scientific-teaching titles, five teachers elected to teaching titles, seven representatives of associate titles (assistants and senior assistants), three representatives of scientific trainees, and 24 students (of which 60 percent are undergraduate students, 10 percent are graduate students, and 30 percent are postgraduate students). In the election process conducted in accordance with the Statute of the Faculty of Economics, the candidate needed a majority of the total number of elected members of this body, i.e., at least 80 votes, to win. The handover of duties to the new dean is expected at the beginning of June 2010, it was announced from the University.
