Former director of Šibenik’s TLM, Ivan Koštan, and former director of HEP, Ivan Mravak, have been placed in one-month custody. They are suspected of causing HEP damages of around 600 million kuna through abuse, reports hrt.hr.
The primary suspect in the case of electricity sales to TLM is former Deputy Prime Minister Damir Polančec. The investigation also includes Toma Galić, director of Here and Polančec’s friend, who issued TLM a permit for electricity trading. The investigating judge of the Zagreb County Court, Jadranka Mandušić, ordered investigative custody for the suspects due to the risk of influencing witnesses, confirmed Mravak’s lawyer Ante Madunić to Hina. He added that, in addition to the possibility of influencing witnesses, Mravak was also placed in custody due to the fear of reoffending as he is still employed at HEP as an advisor.
The police accuse Koštan, Mravak, and Polančec of agreeing to sell electricity to Šibenik’s TLM at a price three times lower than that at which HEP purchased it on the international market, while TLM distributed the same electricity to Mostar’s Aluminijum. A 54-year-old and a 52-year-old are accused of inciting abuse. The government will not comment on statements from law firms or advertise them. No one can and will intimidate us in the fight against corruption, responded Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor to his message yesterday.
