How to Design and Write Projects and Obtain Funds from EU Pre-Accession Funds

The specialist seminar ‘How to Design and Write Projects and Obtain Funds from EU Pre-Accession Funds’ will be held at the Antunović Hotel on May 13 and 14, 2010, organized by the Mirakul Educational Center.

The seminar leaders are mr.sc. Igor Medić and Jean-Pierre Maričić, who received one million euros from the PHARE 2005 project for the technology department of the BIOS Business Incubator. Along with the necessary theory, the leaders will explain the entire process to participants through their own practical example: from conceptualization through preparation to the application for the EU pre-accession fund.  

Participants will be introduced to available EU funds, explained how to financially manage pre-accession programs, and how to prepare for IPA. The leaders will explain how to design a project using the example of the BIOS Business Incubator and the company Đuro Đaković Kotlovi Slavonski Brod, as well as instructions for applicants, the project cycle, and the logical matrix. On the second day of the seminar, participants will learn how to create a project summary, how to fill out the application form, develop a budget, implement the project, and work on its visibility. The practical part of the seminar will focus on the development of specific ideas from participants – creating and analyzing the logical matrix and creating the project summary.

A special benefit of the seminar is that all participants receive a CD with complete documentation of the implemented project worth a total of 1.5 million euros (BIOS Business Incubator) and accompanying documentation used since 2004 to the present. Writing a project for the EU pre-accession fund is a complicated and exhausting process that requires accuracy, precision, and meeting all, even the smallest details. For this reason, many projects are rejected, regardless of whether the project idea was good and necessary.

The goal of this seminar is to present participants with the entire process: from conceptualization through preparation and application to the implementation of projects financed from EU pre-accession funds. Along with the necessary theory, the leaders explain the entire process and report writing through their own practical example. Given that, among many others, there are expert consultants for EU projects in the company Đuro Đaković Kotlovi d.o.o. (Slavonski Brod), which was approved 140,000 euros under the PHARE 2006 project (of which the EU co-finances 69%), the leaders assist participants with expert advice in understanding the project procedure from the perspective of the institution submitting the project.

The emphasis of the seminar is on practical examples that are often not written in the instructions available to project applicants. By properly designing projects – which forms the basis of this seminar – the likelihood of passing in the selection process will be greatly increased.
