The company Pevec in bankruptcy opened today in Varaždin a Pevec sales center employing 40 staff members. Before the bankruptcy, more than 60 workers were employed at the Varaždin Pevec, and now 40 have been re-employed, of which 90 percent previously worked at Pevec.
The area of the center has also been reduced from the previous 6,500 square meters to 3,000 square meters. The bankruptcy of Pevec Bjelovar, which included six centers, was opened at the end of last year, while the bankruptcy for Pevec Zagreb with eight centers was opened at the beginning of February this year. Since the declaration of bankruptcy, almost all centers that were planned to open have been opened, it was emphasized at the opening.
Creditors and suppliers remain with significant claims, but due to their trust, we can reopen centers, said bankruptcy administrator Darko Šket. Varaždin is the eighth Pevec center to reopen, and in the seven centers, 750 workers have found employment again. So far, sales centers have been opened in Jankomir, Zagreb, Bjelovar, Koprivnica, Kutina, Pula, Osijek, and two centers in Zadar. The opening of two more centers is announced for the middle of this month – in Rijeka and Slavonski Brod, while the opening of centers in Vrbovec, Split, and Žitnjak has been completely abandoned. The decision to abandon Vrbovec was made because there is no chance for good business there, while in Split, we were unable to establish any contact with the mayor, said Šket. (H)
