The Parliamentary Committee for Elections and Appointments unanimously established the proposal for the appointment of nine members of the inquiry committee to determine the facts related to the privatization of INA.
The committee, which was confirmed by the Parliament after the Committee’s session, will be chaired by Dragica Zgrebec, a representative of the SDP. The ruling majority in the committee will be represented by Boris Kunst (HDZ) as vice-chairman, Josip Salapić (HDZ) as secretary, and Ana Lovrin (HDZ), Goran Marić (HDZ), and Zdravko Kelić (HSS), while the opposition, along with the committee chairwoman, will include Josip Leko (SDP), Gordan Maras (SDP), and Zlatko Koračević (HNS).
The inquiry committee for determining the facts related to the privatization of INA and all contracts and amendments to contracts between the Croatian Government and the strategic partner MOL is expected to reach conclusions within the next three months regarding the matter it is investigating. The establishment of the committee was proposed by the SDP. It would investigate only the amended contract with MOL from 2009 and the main contract regarding the gas business. However, the HDZ conditioned its support on the inclusion of the entire privatization process of INA since 2002 within the committee’s scope of work.
