At the 39th meeting of the Association of Insurers of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce held on Thursday in Zagreb, Snježana Bertoncelj, CEO of Erste osiguranje Vienna Insurance Group d.d., was elected as the new president of the Association, following the expiration of Darko Cesar’s four-year term.
All insurance & reinsurance companies need to cooperate with each other, as only through joint efforts can the development of the insurance industry be improved, said Bertoncelj. The continuation of cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency, as well as all other state bodies and institutions relevant to the insurance activity, has been announced. The first activities will be related to the preparation of the Conference Days of Croatian Insurance 2010, which the Association traditionally organizes. The outgoing president of the Association, Darko Cesar, presented a report on the four-year work of the Association. Among the most important activities were the preparation of the Days of Croatian Insurance, cooperation with HANFA in the adoption of a series of subordinate legislation, cooperation with the Ministry of Finance during the amendments to the Insurance Act, activities related to compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Act, participation of the president of the Association in screening meetings in Brussels, etc. Darko Cesar emphasized that one of the important activities of the Association will be preparations for the introduction of Solvency II. Igor Pureta, CEO of Grawe Hrvatska, was elected as the vice president.
