The Council of the Croatian National Bank reviewed the latest monetary and economic developments at today’s meeting and adopted the annual reports on last year’s operations and financial performance of the HNB, as announced by the central bank.
Despite the complex conditions of the financial crisis and the decline in interest rates on the global market, as well as changes in the structure of international reserves managed in favor of safer but less profitable forms of investment, the central bank managed to achieve a surplus of income over expenses last year amounting to slightly more than 552 million kuna. Of this, 318 million kuna will be paid into the state budget, while the remainder will go into the general reserves of the HNB, the statement said.
In accordance with the applicable legal procedure, the HNB Council granted consent to the Republic of Austria for the indirect acquisition of a 100% stake in the core capital of Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank d.d. Zagreb, which is the result of the previous acquisition of ownership over the parent bank Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank International AG Klagenfurt. At today’s meeting, the HNB Council also agreed with the decision of the Supervisory Board of Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank d.d. Zagreb to appoint Brano Golubić as a member of the bank’s management, as well as with the decision of the Supervisory Board of Prva stambena štedionica d.d. Zagreb to have Katarina Šobat as a member of its management.
