When was the last time you genuinely laughed while watching domestic (regional) TV or cinema? Probably very few can recall a domestic video that would engage all social masses as it used to.
Let us remember the legendary ‘Little’ and ‘Big Place’, ‘Top List of Surrealists’, or legendary films like ‘Marathoners’, ‘Balkan Spy’, and ‘Who Sings – Evil Does Not Think’? Have Croats and their neighboring nations lost their sense of humor, or has the monopoly of Anglo-American humor, which bursts forth from TV screens and personal computer monitors, stolen our wit? The truth lies somewhere in between – domestic authors on one hand suffer from the influence of popular comedic culture, and on the other hand, they lack the courage to tackle what humor actually is, the comedic events from real life that surround them, or the taboos of their own society.
