On Tuesday, the Register of Croatian Veterans was published on the website. Just half an hour after the publication, access to the mentioned address (www.registarbranitelja.com) was no longer possible. It is currently unknown whether the site crashed due to excessive interest, was hacked, or perhaps removed, reports hrt.hr.
However, according to a cursory check, writes hrt.hr, which was made by typing in names or details about the unit and control number, all data that has until now been a state secret can indeed be obtained. The register was posted on the internet by an unknown person who explained to the public the already known arguments of those advocating for the publication of the register. First and foremost, it is emphasized that the public interest is superior to individual and private interests. It is also stated that the register is already known to a sufficient number of people in the relevant institutions, so it was only a matter of time before someone published it. Unofficially, it is learned that the register was stolen from the Ministry of Defense, so it is not complete as it does not include members of the Ministry of the Interior. (www.hrt.hr)
