Maistra proposed a partnership agreement to the municipality of Vrsar

The hotel and tourism company Maistra has proposed to the municipality of Vrsar the conclusion of a partnership agreement for the further business sustainability of the company, the creation of long-term partnerships with the municipality of Vrsar, and the development of tourism in that area, it was emphasized at today’s press conference of the company, a member of the Adris group.

By concluding a partnership agreement, Maistra would, among other things, enable the municipality of Vrsar to appoint one member to the company’s Supervisory Board and undertake the obligation to invest 20 million kuna in the infrastructure of Vrsar over the next ten years, in addition to investing in its facilities, of which ten million kuna would be allocated to education, sports, and culture, said the CEO of Maistra, Kristian Šustar. On the other hand, he added, the municipality of Vrsar would establish the right to build in favor of Maistra without compensation for all parcels owned by the municipality on which Maistra will build facilities (a new hotel with four or five stars and a golf course) for a period of 30 years.

Šustar expressed hope that the leaders of the municipality of Vrsar would accept the proposal for a partnership agreement, and if they do not accept it, “the compensation for the use of land owned by the municipality, which Maistra uses, would be defined in accordance with the Law on Tourist Land.” Namely, as he stated, the municipality of Vrsar is demanding a unilaterally defined and economically unacceptable compensation of almost three euros per square meter for that land, which is unacceptable for the Rovinj hotel company.

Every investment in the tourism sector requires the security of long-term business and the support and partnership of the local community, especially since tourism has multiplicative effects, and in this case, the benefits of Maistra’s investments are for the entire destination, Šustar emphasized. He reiterated that, along with investments of 400 million kuna from 2001 to the present and planned investments of 500 million kuna, Maistra is ready to pay the municipality of Vrsar a one-time amount of three million kuna.  (H)
