By continuing investments in highway construction, the Government aims to stimulate the investment cycle and support the construction industry, stated Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, who today visited the construction site of the Buševec – Lekenik section on the Zagreb – Sisak highway.
An investment of 645 million kuna in the continuation of the construction of the Zagreb – Sisak highway is valuable and important, and we want to stimulate the investment cycle and help the construction sector not to collapse, said the Prime Minister. She noted that highway construction is proceeding in accordance with the Highway Construction and Maintenance Plan for 2010. She added that it is crucial for Croatia to continue highway construction in this difficult year.
"We are going step by step, such are the times," said Kosor, noting that the continuation of work on the Zagreb – Sisak highway will enable many builders to work. The Buševec – Lekenik section, 11.2 kilometers long, is part of the larger Velika Gorica south – Lekenik section. It is planned to build 12 structures on it, including two bridges, six overpasses, and four culverts. A junction at Lekenik, a toll booth at Lekenik, and a supporting service facility at Pešćenica are also planned.
The contractor is a business association consisting of Konstruktor – engineering, Hidroelektra low construction, and Osijek Koteks. The planned construction period is 12 months, and the contracted value of the works is 529.2 million kuna excluding VAT (645 million kuna including VAT). The Zagreb – Sisak highway is a total length of 47.9 kilometers, and the total planned investment in construction is 5.1 billion kuna. It should be completed in no more than two and a half years.
