The meat industry Lijanovići from Široki Brijeg is suspected of a multi-million scandal due to the import of meat from Brazil, which reached the market in Bosnia and Herzegovina through falsified customs declarations.
Beef intended for the Russian Federation was imported from Brazil to Bosnia and Herzegovina via Montenegro. One declaration states that the meat meets Russian standards. According to Federal Television, a label was affixed to that declaration indicating that the goods were intended for Kosovo, and there is no declaration that it was intended for Bosnia and Herzegovina at all.
Although there are no traces of import declarations, the meat received loading approval from a veterinary inspector in Široki Brijeg. After that, it was delivered to Velika Kladuša, where it was supposed to end up in cans as a Bosnian-Herzegovinian product in the facilities of the company Farmko, owned by Lijanovići. FTV states that, in addition to deceiving consumers, another multi-million customs scandal is looming, which has been warned about by the Indirect Taxation Authority. (www.hrt.hr)
