Ferry Prices Increase by an Average of Three Percent

New transportation prices in the line maritime traffic in the Adriatic will come into effect on March 22, but only on the ferry and boat lines operated by the national carrier Jadrolinija and significantly lower than those speculated in public, prices are set for each line individually, rather than linearly, and the total off-season increase in ferry tariffs will not exceed three percent, it was announced by the Agency for Coastal Line Maritime Transport.

The Management Board of the Agency at today’s meeting held in Zagreb accepted the request of Jadrolinija and approved the off-season tariffs for the transport of passengers and vehicles, which will apply from March 22 to May 31, and the seasonal tariffs for the period from June 1 to September 30, 2010. These increases apply to regular passengers and vehicles. For islanders, i.e., persons with permanent residence on the Adriatic islands who enjoy transportation privileges, the increased tariffs will apply from March 22 to December 31, 2010, which means that there will be no additional seasonal increases for island tickets. Prices are set for each line individually, rather than linearly, but the total off-season increase in ferry tariffs will not exceed three percent.

Thus, in the off-season, there will be no price changes on the ferry lines Brestova-Porozina, Valbiska-Merag, Prizna-Žigljen, and Prapratno-Sobra, on seven lines the increase will be between three and four percent, and on seven lines between seven and nine percent. Thus, a passenger to Supetar will pay 28 kuna instead of the previous 27 kuna, and for a vehicle up to five meters, the price has increased from 126 to 130 kuna.

On the Zadar-Preko line, the ticket price for passengers has not increased, while for vehicles it has risen from 79 to 86 kuna. Neither on the Split-Vis line has the transport of passengers increased, while for a vehicle it will rise from 296 to 308 kuna. For island tickets, the increases are a few kuna. For example, on the Biograd-Tkon line, the travel ticket for islanders has increased from 4.50 to 6 kuna, and on the ferry lines Drvenik-Sućuraj, Prizna-Žigljen, and Orebić-Dominče, islanders will pay 7 kuna instead of 5.50. The meeting particularly emphasized that the prices for vehicle transport for the island population (cars with a vignette) are still up to 20 percent lower than they were before 2004, it is stated in the announcement.
