The Japanese automaker Honda Motor announced on Tuesday in the U.S. that it will recall 410,000 minivans Odyssey and Element vehicles due to issues with the brake pedal.
The recall affects 344,000 Odyssey models and 68,000 Elements, produced in 2007 and 2008, according to AP. Honda stated that the brake pedal can become "soft" and that the driver must press it closer to the floor than usual before the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The condition worsens over time but affects only some of the vehicles. The company notes that the problem occurs because a part in the stability control system can allow a small amount of air to enter the brake system. Honda says that owners should take their vehicles to service as soon as they receive notification from the dealership. Recall letters will be sent out by the end of April. (H)
