A group of about fifty workers from Salonit today physically expelled the bankruptcy administrator of the company, Mirko Kozina, from the factory premises in Vranjic due to his decision to involve the company Adriatic Blizna from Trogir, which does not have a permit for such work, stated Jozo Marić, the regional commissioner of the Croatian Union of Trade Unions (HUS) for Dalmatia, who also participated in the action.
"We told Kozina to leave the factory premises and not to return, he exited the factory grounds and everything went smoothly without incidents," explained Marić. According to Marić, Kozina, with the help of the bankruptcy judge of Salonit, Joza Ćaleta, made the decision to engage the company Adriatic Blizna for the asbestos remediation of the factory despite a prior warning from the Ministry of Environmental Protection that this company does not have a permit to perform asbestos-related work.
Marić stated that such a decision by Kozina and Ćaleta is "criminal and unacceptable" and slows down the quality remediation of asbestos at Salonit and Mravinačka Kava, which endangers the health of people in the Split area."If the workers from Adriatic Blizna appear on the premises of the Salonit factory, we will not allow them to stay there," said Marić. He also mentioned that calls have been made to the State Inspectorate, USKOK, and DORH to engage in resolving the issues related to the asbestos remediation of the Salonit factory. (H)
