All trains will stop for fifteen minutes

All trains in Croatia will stop on Monday from 10:55 to 11:10. Four unions of HŽ, reports HRT, will protest during this time due to the problems that have arisen in HŽ.

The unionists believe that money in HŽ is being spent to keep subsidiary companies alive, while nothing is being invested in railway infrastructure. In their opinion, the future of HŽ is in question. The unionists are also against the cancellation of a large number of trains, or the suspension of traffic on certain lines.

The action was announced to the Government and the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure by the Croatian Railway Union, the Union of Technical Inspection of Wagons and Trains of HŽ, the Union of Train Conductors of Croatia, and the Union of Locomotive Drivers of Croatia.

The unions announce the protest due to problems in the companies arising from the division of the unified Croatian Railways, which have become increasingly evident in recent months (several serious and tragic accidents), and due to the disregard of these unions as social partners. In addition, the unions state that the issue of underinvestment in railway infrastructure, in rolling stock and traction capacities, the catastrophically poor timetable that has reduced the number of passengers, and the proposal to cancel trains or suspend traffic on certain lines needs to be urgently resolved, reports Hina.
