The Pevec Zagreb retail chain in bankruptcy has reopened shopping centers in Koprivnica and Osijek today, with thousands of customers flocking to goods whose prices have been reduced by an average of 20 percent.
This is merchandise that has been in storage for a long time, up to a year, so we have tried to get rid of old stocks through promotional prices, said Darko Šket, the bankruptcy administrator of Pevec, to Hina. The sales are excellent so far, with the shopping center in Osijek achieving a turnover of about 500,000 kuna by the afternoon, and in Koprivnica about 350,000 kuna. Pevec Zagreb previously reopened centers in Zagreb (Jankomir) and Zadar, and since there were discounts of up to 50 percent there, large queues formed this morning in front of the centers in Koprivnica and Osijek as citizens expected a clearance sale of goods at similar prices.
High attendance is good for all of us, for customers, workers, and suppliers, and it shows that everyone was eagerly waiting for Pevec to start operating again, Šket said, announcing that the next opening will be in Kutina on March 19, and then centers in Rijeka and Slavonski Brod will also be opened. On Tuesday, March 9, a hearing was held for the bankruptcy of Pevec Bjelovar, which includes six sales centers in Bjelovar, Vrbovec, Varaždin, Zadar, and Split, where creditors agreed that Pevec should continue operations.
