Due to the murder of young attorney trainee Ivana Hodak in October 2008, Mladen Šlogar has been provisionally sentenced to 30 years in prison. The judicial panel, presided over by Judge Ivan Turudić, confirmed the allegations from the indictment and convicted Šlogar of murder out of ruthless revenge.
Attending the sentencing were Ivana’s mother Ljerka Mintas-Hodak, friend Jelena Perčin, and Ljubo Pavasović Visković. The unexpected decision of the County Court in Zagreb to deliver the verdict today followed the closing statements of the defense and prosecution. While prosecutor Dunja Pavliček sought the maximum sentence of 40 years for Šlogar, defense attorney Antonio Zujić asserted that there was not a single valid piece of evidence indicating that Šlogar killed Ivana Hodak.
