Ivo Čović receives 23 thousand kuna monthly

The portal Zagrebancija.com reveals the staggering salaries of employees in the management of Zagrebački holding, a company that shapes the daily life of the city of Zagreb, costing citizens of Zagreb 1.6 million kuna monthly.

The top management of the Holding consists of about eighty people in permanent employment. The payroll printout is from October of this year. The Holding is a remarkable company, and it is no wonder that it is considered the most desirable employer in Croatia. One of the reasons is precisely the salaries of the Holding employees, writes Zagrebancija.com.

It has already been written that the lowest-ranked workforce in the city company, such as tram drivers, earns between seven and nine thousand kuna at the end of the month. However, what has never been explicitly accessible to the public are the salaries of board members, directors, assistants, advisors, or simply – the top of the city company. Since this is a company that is partially financed from the city treasury, while the rest of the income is collected in the form of parking fines, utility bills, and similar, i.e., from the wallets of the citizens of Zagreb, the portal Zagrebancija.com decided to exclusively publish one of the most guarded secrets. The reason for the publication was a Facebook poll in which 91 percent of citizens, by name and surname, voted for the publication of salaries because they believe that since it is a city company, they have the right to know the salaries of the people who shape their daily lives.

The CEO Ivo Čović receives the highest salary of 41 thousand kuna gross, or 23 thousand net. For comparison, Leo Begović, the CEO of HEP, the largest company in Croatia, which Čović once was, receives 17 thousand kuna net. His board members have somewhat ‘lower’ incomes. Thus, board member Branimir Delić receives 36 thousand kuna gross, which is 19 thousand kuna net, board member Vlasta Pavić has 34 thousand kuna gross or slightly more than 18 thousand kuna net, board member Lidija Tomić is registered at 37 thousand kuna gross, which is almost 20 thousand kuna. HSS board member Stipan Matoš has the second highest salary of 39 thousand kuna, or 20 thousand kuna net. The director of ZET and board member Ivan Tolić receives 37 thousand kuna gross, which is 20 thousand kuna net. The salary of the director of the City Gas Company and board member Vladimir Tomičić does not burden the Holding’s management, as he does not appear on the printout that the portal possesses. It can be assumed that Tomičić is on the payroll of the Gas Company. Knowing the Croatian circumstances, his salary there is possibly higher than it would be in the Holding. Dušan Viro, the director of corporate communications of the Holding, receives a salary of 15 thousand kuna net.

Additionally, let us add to this list the spokesperson Dušan Viro whose salary is 24 thousand kuna gross, or 15 thousand kuna net, and the informal head of Čović’s office Vladimir Botica, whom the Holding pays 35 thousand kuna gross, or almost 19 thousand kuna. The amounts for advisors and assistants in the management are interesting, as these are usually (non)working positions where dismissed directors who are perceived in public as corrupt, opposition politicians, and politically suitable associates are placed. Thus, the husband of Bandić’s chief of the failed presidential campaign, Jasmina Havranek – Davor Havranek, receives 27 thousand kuna gross, or almost 16 thousand kuna net. This is a person who is also in the management of the joint company of the City and INA, Terme Zagreb. We were officially told that Havranek is an advisor to the director of Stanogradnja, that ‘successful’ company that sells Sopnica Jelkovec. However, the question is why he is on the payroll of the Holding’s management, writes Zagrebancija.com. Very high in his salary ranks is the former fiery HSP member, and today Bandić’s protégé Pero Kovačević, who, in the position of assistant for legal affairs, receives 36 thousand kuna gross, or almost 20 thousand kuna net.

Immediately below Kovačević are several other eminent employees of the Holding. Thus, security advisor Joško Morić, also a former fiery opposition member, and today a ‘Bandić’s man’, receives a gross salary of 36 thousand kuna, which is 19 thousand kuna net. Morić has been creating an internal security service for the Holding for two years. Furthermore, former HNS member Stipe Tojčić, who has also been working on a project for several years in the position of assistant/advisor, receives the second highest salary of 39 thousand, or almost 21 thousand kuna. Igor Rađenović receives a salary of almost 20 thousand kuna net. The former protégé of Slobodan Ljubičić Kikaš – Zdravka Ramljak, whom Kikaš employed in the Holding after he failed to co-opt her into the City Office for Property and Legal Relations and City Property because she clashed there with the head Ninoslava Zeković, today also sits in the Holding’s Administrative Building. Ramljak receives 31 thousand kuna gross or 20 thousand kuna net. Job description – unknown. Finally, the main anti-corruption member of the Holding society Igor Rađenović receives close to 20 thousand kuna net. After dealing with the city settlement Sopnica Jelkovec, where he failed to sell a single apartment, Rađenović today takes care of the City pharmacies.
