The fourth conference of the Croatian Association of Certified Members of Supervisory and Management Boards (HUCNO), held on Saturday in Zadar, was marked by the announcement of the establishment of a database of supervisors, abbreviated as HBN. The motives for launching this database are simple. Currently, around 6,500 members of supervisory or management boards are appointed in Croatia, and two-fifths of the companies in which these members work are wholly or partially state-owned.
According to some data, the average net compensation for a member is around 4,400 kuna per year. – The database of supervisors, among other things, is a way to obtain a quality source of supervisors, as well as reliable statistical data on who is engaged in this. The search system will also help in finding the ideal composition of the board – emphasized the president of HUCNO, Daniele Divjaković.
The association plans to submit HBN to the government in printed form along with the submission of passwords for electronic search, while other potential users of the database will fill out a profile development form. The potential of the database lies precisely in those companies that are not state-owned. The database manager – Dekra – will enter the data, and the search engine will reduce the number of potential candidates according to the needs of the users. The database is currently in the development phase, and among other things, it will also enable easier control of conflicts of interest among members of supervisory and management boards. – It is always considered that the supervisory board is the enemy of the management, but if the management accepts it as someone who has a corrective, advisory, and even lobbying function, it will not be so – emphasized Divjaković.
