Representatives are discussing the report of the Croatian National Bank for the first half of 2009, when global adverse trends and a decline in world trade significantly affected production levels.
The central monetary authority deserves good ratings for its actions during the crisis, all clubs agree, but the opposition claims – the government has managed to spoil this with incorrect measures. The real GDP value in the first six months of 2009 decreased by 6.5 percent year-on-year, and such dynamics were decisively influenced by a strong decline in consumption and business optimism, as well as generally increased uncertainty in the economy, states the HNB in the report.
At the continuation of the session, the Parliament will also discuss the Report on the Work of the State Audit Office in 2009. State auditors conducted 855 audits last year, of which 546 were financial audits, 299 were reviews of the budgets of local government units, and 10 were reviews of financial statements of non-parliamentary political parties. The report highlights visible progress among the audited entities, as the number of those receiving unfavorable opinions from auditors decreases year by year. (H)
