London has once again been crowned the European City of the Future in the latest fDI magazine survey for 2010/2011, while Međimurje has made its way into the top five Southern European regions with the best strategies for attracting foreign investments, The Financial Times reported on Friday.
London has been re-elected as the European City of the Future, with Paris and Moscow taking second and third place, respectively. The capital of the United Kingdom has taken the leading position in all categories of the survey, including economic potential, human resources, and infrastructure. Among the top 10 of a total of 25 European cities of the future are also Stockholm, Barcelona, Dublin, Vienna, Frankfurt, Brussels, and Edinburgh. In Eastern Europe, Bucharest has been declared the European City of the Future, followed by Warsaw, Budapest, Prague, Bratislava, and Krakow.
When it comes to Southern Europe, Barcelona has been declared the City of the Future, followed by Madrid, Rome, Istanbul, and Milan. Analysts also examined regions, and the southeastern part of the United Kingdom has been declared the European Region of the Future. This is followed by the French Ile-de-France, Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, and the region around the Danish capital Copenhagen. Međimurje ranked fourth on the list of the 10 Southern European regions with the best strategies for attracting foreign investments. The last place on that list went to the Split region. The leading position went to Comidad de Madrid, followed by Piedmont and Catalonia. (H)
