That even half of the dealers will not survive 2010 is the forecast of the leaders of the largest car companies in Croatia. The key figures in the automotive industry, in a survey conducted for Lider’s special edition “Who is Who in the Automotive Industry,” predict a further decline in sales, and consider high state levies to be the biggest problem that disrupts an already difficult business due to the consequences of the recession.
According to their estimates, more than 5,000 workers could lose their jobs, which would be an additional blow to the economy. They see salvation for the industry, which accounts for 10 percent of the total Croatian economy, and the preservation of jobs in the state, which should get involved by introducing incentives and opening production facilities.
