59 Percent of Uljanik Shares for Sale, 25 Percent for Workers

The Croatian government decided today to announce a tender for the sale of 59.25 percent of shares in the Pula-based Uljanik at a starting price of 397.49 million kuna, while a special decision will regulate the sale of 25 percent of shares under special conditions for Uljanik workers.

After last week’s decision to announce a tender for the privatization of five Croatian shipyards, the government today made a decision for Uljanik as well. According to Minister of Economy Đuro Popijač, this is in line with the announcements from last week’s session and the consultations conducted regarding the received initiatives. According to the decision, the government will sell 1,324,960 shares, or 59.25 percent of Uljanik shares, through a public bidding process, and they will be sold at the nominal value of the shares, that is, at a starting price of 397.49 million kuna.

The decision also specifies that the government will make a special decision regarding the sale of shares to Uljanik workers under special conditions, specifically for a total of 559,064 shares, or 25 percent of the shares from the portfolio of the Croatian Privatization Fund. The tender for Uljanik, as well as for other shipyards, will be announced by February 15, and the deadline for submitting bids will be 60 days from the date of the public call announcement.

Last week, the government decided to announce a tender for privatization under special conditions, for one kuna, of majority stakes in four shipyards – 95.24 percent of Brodotrogir, 99.54 percent of Kraljevica, 83.32 percent of Rijeka’s 3. Maj, and 99.78 percent of the Shipbuilding Industry Split. The government recommended to Brodosplit to announce a tender by February 15 for the sale of a 100 percent stake in Brodosplit – Shipyard for Special Objects, at a nominal price of 18.16 million kuna.
