The company INsig2, a Croatian and regional provider of corporate integrated security solutions, has acquired its first globally certified computer forensics expert. Dr. Damir Delija has recently become the holder of the EnCE certificate (EnCase Certified Examiner) from Guidance Software – a leading provider of products, solutions, and services for conducting digital investigations.
The certificate is recognized not only by the business community but also by judicial institutions, and this recognition is a direct confirmation of top-level expertise in the field of computer forensics. Damir Delija reflected on the fact that in today’s society, lifelong education is the only solution to keep pace with the continuous development of new technologies. Delija notes that by attending the program, he gained valuable insights and skills in analyzing computer systems and realized that it is indeed an extremely complex and demanding field where new approaches and tools must always be tested. ‘The process of computer forensics always feels like a journey into the unknown. Along with the fact that you are searching for evidence that is not material, the way you do it must always be adapted to the given situation. You must be agile, cunning, and resourceful,’ explains Delija.
The certification process itself lasts a total of six months during which future forensics experts become acquainted with the methodology of conducting digital investigations and using EnCase solutions in in-depth examinations of computer systems. Thus, along with training in finding digital evidence using EnCase solutions, forensics experts learn about file search methods, cryptographic data analysis, principles of computer BIOS subsystem operation, booting procedures for computers and operating systems, file systems, and principles of valid collection of admissible digital evidence, states the company’s announcement.
