The Slovenian retail chain Mercator is acquiring the Biograd chain Bure Commerce. The contract has not yet been signed, but unofficially we learn that it is a done deal and that the transaction should be concluded soon.
Bure Commerce will lease its 12 stores and the shopping center in Biograd, which was supposed to start construction this summer, to Mercator. With this transaction, the owner of Bure Commerce, Darko Eškinja, will only divest the retail part of the business, from which he generated around 50 million kuna in annual revenue. He will retain the wholesale business and will remain a member of the Gastro Group. Konzum was also interested in the retail part of Bure Commerce’s business, but reportedly Mercator offered a better price. (A. K.)
