From January 26, the transmitters of the national TV signal in the area of Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County will completely switch to digital operation. Along with this change, the broadcasting of television programs in the existing analog technology will cease.
Programs of local and regional TV stations will continue to be broadcast for some time using the analog signal, but also experimentally in digital, so that they too will transition to exclusively digital broadcasting during the year. The transition program to digital broadcasting of TV signals in Croatia is being implemented in accordance with the European Union regulation, which mandates member states to switch to exclusively digital technology by the end of 2012 at the latest. To facilitate the transition for citizens to receive digital signals, the Government of the Republic of Croatia partially subsidizes the purchase of digital receivers in the amount of 75 kuna. All HRT subscribers have received vouchers at their home addresses that allow them to purchase these at a reduced price. In addition to technical equipment stores, digital receivers can also be purchased at some post offices in Croatia. A detailed list of sales points can be found on the official website of the Government of the Republic of Croatia: www.vlada.hr/dtv. (M.N.)
