If the Government Does Not Reduce the Budget by 20 Billion, We Will Go to Elections

The government must reduce the budget. Otherwise, elections are necessary after which the new authorities will implement this in the first years of their mandate, is the main message from HSLS leader Darinko Kosor in an interview for the new business weekly Lider.

The economy is in a difficult state, and if this government is not ready to implement reforms and lacks political will, the necessary reforms must be carried out by someone else, emphasizes the new leader of the liberals. – The budget cannot be 120 billion kuna; ideally, it should be a hundred. The state must be smaller and more efficient, it must abolish privileges, so there will be no need for a crisis tax on the revenue side. This will increase consumption and there will be money in the budget again – is his response to the question about a concrete proposal for exiting the crisis.  He announced that as a coalition partner, he will provide his proposals and economic guidelines at the end of January, when he will present the names of well-known entrepreneurs who will be part of the new HSLS economic team. He also believes that commercial banks should take over the establishment of a consortium that would decide on the allocation of funds from the state intervention fund to save the economy, rather than the state deciding on the allocation. In that case, banks will pay attention to whom they give money, and there will be no political arbitration.
