Democracy has prevailed, European Croatia, the values that are valid in the Europe we aspire to, stated President Stjepan Mesić after the announcement of the election results, and who will hand over his powers to his successor Ivo Josipović on February 18. I believe that Josipović will fulfill his program for the benefit of all citizens of Croatia and this country, Mesić conveyed.
When asked how he sees the fate of Milan Bandić, he assessed that the independent candidate is now returning to the position of mayor, but with questionable power relations in the city. President Stjepan Mesić, who will hand over his powers to his successor Ivo Josipović on February 18, monitored the voting results in the Presidential Palace surrounded by numerous friends, associates, and journalists. Until his address to the Croatian public, he followed the course of the second round of elections on as many as four large televisions and a video wall. The office of the current president will continue its usual activities until Mesić’s departure from Pantovčak on February 18, with regular consultations with Ivo Josipović for a more efficient transition of power.
