On the penultimate day of 2009, investors, except for institutional ones, were not inclined to trade. Only two stocks had million-kuna turnover, and four times higher turnover in government bonds compared to equities marked one of the dullest days on the exchange.
The total turnover on the regular market today amounted to a meager 11.5 million kuna. The Crobex index fell by 0.74 percent, closing at 1,979 points, while the Crobex 10 weakened by 0.68 percent. The most liquid stock today was HT with a total turnover of two million kuna and a price drop of 0.18 percent. The second millionaire was the TOZ stock, which unexpectedly surged in liquidity and price. With just over one million kuna in turnover, TOZ rose by 8.61 percent today.
The Končar Group stock was traded for a total of 662 thousand kuna with a price drop of 0.02 percent. Despite the fact that they secured a contract worth 1.6 million euros in Macedonia today, the Dalekovod stock recorded a price drop of 0.74 percent with a turnover of 631 thousand kuna. Other construction companies also followed negative trends – IGH was down by 1.22 percent (434 thousand kuna turnover), and Ingra by 0.32 percent (533 thousand kuna turnover).
In addition to the five or six most liquid stocks on such a dismal trading day, it is worth mentioning the renewed rise of the HG Spot stock, which increased by 5.08 percent today with a total turnover of 224 thousand kuna. Tomorrow, the exchange will operate only until 1 PM, and judging by today’s trading, the Crobex will not finish the year above 2,000 points. This is disappointing for investors, but it must be acknowledged that the state of the exchange completely reflects sentiments in the rest of the economy, for which forecasts are very pessimistic.
