Prime Minister Kosor Dismisses Božidar Kalmeta?

In an interview for Croatian Radio, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor announced the dismissal of Minister Božidar Kalmeta. Kalmeta, following this morning’s accident at the Main Train Station in Zagreb, stated that he is considering resignation and will discuss it with the Prime Minister.

When asked if Kalmeta’s dismissal is imminent, Jadranka Kosor responded in the Croatian Radio show “How the Government Governs”: “Yes. We discussed this even before the parliamentary debate on his responsibility.” – “My opinion was that he should be given the opportunity to publicly express himself and answer all the questions from the representatives. Unfortunately, in any ministerial department, when such events occur in succession, it is normal to discuss responsibility. This does not mean that the minister himself is to blame. Today or tomorrow, we will make a final decision in accordance with how this is done in the world,” announced the Prime Minister. She added that it is certain that the minister could not have influenced the grounding of such a large ship as the Marko Polo in any way, but that also falls under the minister’s jurisdiction: today this one, tomorrow someone else.
