According to data from the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), in the eleven months of this year, 25,183 people were employed in seasonal jobs, which is 22.7 percent of the total number of employed, representing an increase of 3.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
In tourism, in activities related to accommodation provision and food preparation and serving, as well as wholesale and retail trade, 15,395 people were employed. The most common positions were waiters, salespeople, housekeepers, cleaners, kitchen workers, chefs, assistant chefs, production line workers, assistant waiters, and administrative officers. In other sectors, 9,788 people were employed in seasonal jobs, with the highest number in agriculture, forestry, and fishing – 2,479 people. The highest number of seasonal workers by counties was employed in Split-Dalmatia, Osijek-Baranja, Istria, Dubrovnik-Neretva, and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties. Through intermediation by the regional offices of HZZ from the interior of Croatia, 7,269 people were employed in seasonal jobs in tourism, with the highest numbers from Osijek-Baranja (1,334), Vukovar-Srijem (1,283), Brod-Posavina (705), Sisak-Moslavina (690), Bjelovar-Bilogora (466), and Karlovac counties (395).(H)
