FER Receives the Most Prestigious Web Award

As part of the national internet awards ceremony Vidi Web Top 100 held on Wednesday in Zagreb, the best Croatian websites were announced again this year, but this time only in ten out of a total of 11 categories.

Namely, the best of the best websites in the Web Promotion category was not awarded to any company this year. The expert judging panel for the Web Promotion category concluded that no web campaign in Croatia currently deserves this prestigious award. Stanislav Bender, a member of the judging panel, stated that while in the most advanced economies of the world, web campaigns in terms of budgets and creative engagement surpass television campaigns, in Croatia, web campaigns are still relegated to the margins.

He emphasized that this should serve as an incentive for marketing agencies for the next year. Otherwise, the best of the best websites in the Corporate Websites category for 2009 is the website of the company Encian. In the Entertainment, Fashion, and Music category for 2009, the best website is that of MTV television. At the announcement, director Saša Škorić lamented that Croatia is the only country with outdated regulations regarding domains, so only the Croatian site among all in the region has the com.hr domain, rather than hr as it should be. The Golden statuette in the Media, News, and Classifieds category for 2009 is the website Mojtv.hr, which is actually a portal and TV guide for 100 television programs.

The mobile service of Nova TV, m.dnevnik.hr, is the best in the mobile services category. This year, awards for web solutions were given for the eighth time. The Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing received two awards for its web solution Cadial for intelligent searching of legal regulations compliant with European Union standards.

The most prestigious recognition, the Prime Minister’s web award, was personally presented by the Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor to the dean of the Faculty Vedran Mornar and the head of the innovation team Bojana Dalbelo Bašić. According to Professor Bašić, the CADIAL search engine is the first system for intelligent searching of 20,000 Croatian legal regulations indexed with Eurovoc labels and is already compliant with European standards. This is an international project that lasted two years and is supposed to assist in the informatization of public administration, but it has not yet been commercialized. All winners of the Vidi Web Top 100 awards, in ten categories and one subcategory, can be found on the website www.vidi.hr/top100. (Marija Čekada)
