In the premises of the Croatian Employers’ Association today, the director of Emezzete for Croatia, Slobodan Školnik, the president of the management board of KTC, Ivan Katavić, and the director of Konzum, Darko Knez, gathered to present their expectations for the most important month of the year for them.
Considering that trade and retail have recovered in almost all Western countries, signs of positive changes are also expected in the Croatian trading sea, emphasized the president of the Trade Association of HUP, Josip Zaher, adding that our traders have prepared very well for the most important month of the year. The Association points out that trade turnover in that month remained at the same level as in the same period last year. For a successful December, Croatian traders hope that banks, which have announced a reduction in interest rates for loans, will also contribute.
Slobodan Školnik, the head of Emezzete for Croatia, highlighted the importance of trade for the overall economy, as well as for many workers employed in trade. He is convinced that better days are coming for our stores, and accordingly for our workers. Josip Zaher, on the other hand, stated that a decline in employment in the retail sector is not expected in December, which cannot be said for January and February of next year, when a slight decline is possible. The actions of banks and the announced Christmas bonuses, he said, benefit traders, so they can rightly hope for the same revenues as in the same period last year.
