The largest Croatian tour operator adriatica.net announced on Friday the information about the signed finalized agreement on the recapitalization of the company that has been awaited for months.
Although the company did not want to disclose which state and private companies entered the project to rescue adriatica.net, Minister of Tourism Damir Bajs stated at today’s press conference that it involves HUP-Zagreb of Anđelko Leko, Agrokor, Šibenik Jolly, Saponija, and strategic partner Terme Čatež, as well as two state companies ACI and Croatia osiguranje. Croatia Airlines, which was one of the candidates, is not mentioned anywhere, nor is EPH, or WAZ, which has so far been present in adriatica with 50 percent ownership. Behind the entire project, according to reliable sources, is Zagrebačka banka, the largest creditor of adriatica.net, which owes over 30 million euros, and which will provide the mentioned companies with loans for recapitalization in exchange for shares of the company. Croatia osiguranje has already paid adriatica.net a loan of 35 million kuna, which it can now convert into capital, and Terme Čatež, according to informed sources, want to enter the Croatian market through adriatica.net in order to try to regain a stake in Sunčani Hvar.
