At the 43rd congress of the World Association of National Associations of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators – UFTAA, which is currently being held in Kathmandu, Nepal, the director of the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies – UHPA, Maja Stanić, received an award for her contribution to the development of tourism, as reported by UHPA.
Since this UFTAA award has just been established, Stanić is among the first in the world to receive it, which honors not only her but also Croatia, UHPA added. In addition to her, other representatives of UHPA at the congress include the assistant director of the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ), Milo Sršen, who presented a 16-minute film about Marco Polo as part of the lecture "Branding Croatia as a Tourist Destination."
UHPA also reported that the congress participants showed great interest in Croatia, especially after the president of UHPA, Boris Žgomba, announced in his presentation that next year, simplified visa issuance conditions for tourists from China and India should be introduced. This also contributed to qualitative discussions of the UHPA delegation with representatives of other national associations of agencies and with tour operators from India and China regarding the presentation of Croatia in their countries. It was agreed with the UFTAA presidency that Croatia will apply to host the congress of this world association in 2013. (H)
