Today, USKOK has filed an indictment against former Croatian ambassador to Washington and permanent Croatian representative to the UN, Neven Jurica, accusing him of having spent at least 677,000 kuna of state funds for personal purposes in 2007 and 2008, specifically funds from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MVPEI).
Former ambassador Jurica (57), who personally requested his dismissal in July this year, is accused of using credit cards and funds from the diplomatic mission for personal needs, that is, of abusing his position and authority. USKOK claims that Jurica used official credit cards and mission funds, contrary to the Internal Rules of MVPEI and the Guidelines and Decision on the Use of Business Credit Cards, to pay various personal bills and withdraw cash from ATMs, even though the expenses were not justified for representation.
