The County Court in Zagreb will decide today on the detention of four suspects in the HAC affair. A decision is also expected on whether their accounts and assets will be blocked. The State Attorney’s Office requested the investigative measure last Friday evening.
Former CEO Jurica Prskalo, board member Marijo Lovrinčević, director of the Construction Sector Goran Legac, and chief engineer of the Bosiljevo-Sveti Rok project Željko Kandžija were arrested on Thursday as part of the operation Discrepancy. The police filed a criminal complaint against them, charging them with the most serious form of abuse of position and authority, namely abuse that resulted in significant financial gain. In this case, it concerns 22 million kuna. The Criminal Code prescribes a penalty of one to ten years in prison for this.
The director of Skladgradnja Slaven Žužul was also arrested. The preliminary proceedings council of the County Court in Zagreb rejected his appeal yesterday against the decision to keep him in custody. His lawyer Ante Madunić stated that he is ready to offer the court a total amount of 22 million kuna as security – in exchange for being spared from detention. It is suspected that the arrested individuals paid 36 million kuna for the coloring of the Sveti Rok and Mala Kapela tunnels. HAC has already contracted the coloring of Mala Kapela for 2.6 million kuna, and Sveti Rok for 2.4 million kuna, but those contracts were terminated and the job was agreed upon with Skladgradnja.
