Industrial production in Croatia increased by 0.2 percent

Total industrial production in Croatia increased by 0.2 percent in October this year compared to September, while it is 7.2 percent lower compared to October last year, according to seasonally adjusted data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

In the period from November 2008 to October 2009, total industrial production in Croatia decreased by 7.5 percent compared to production from November 2007 to October 2008. The trend, DZS explains, is a series of seasonally adjusted indices from which the influence of random components has been excluded. Data on trends by activity sectors show that in the most important manufacturing industry, a 0.4 percent increase in production was recorded in October compared to September. Production in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning increased by 1.4 percent, while mining and quarrying decreased by 1 percent. On an annual basis, compared to October last year, industrial production in the manufacturing industry decreased by 9.2 percent in the tenth month of this year, in mining and quarrying by 11.9 percent, while in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning it increased by 2.2 percent.

Comparing the last twelve months with the previous twelve months (average annual chain rate of change), production in the manufacturing industry decreased by 9 percent, and in mining and quarrying by 9.3 percent. At the same time, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, a production increase of 1.3 percent was recorded. DZS data according to major industrial groupings show that on a monthly basis, in October compared to September, the production of non-durable consumer goods increased by 0.6 percent, energy production by 0.3 percent, and capital goods by 0.2 percent. The production of durable consumer goods remained at the same level, while the production of intermediate goods decreased by 0.2 percent. On an annual basis (October/October), the trend of capital goods production fell by 17.1 percent. The production of durable consumer goods decreased by 12.3 percent, intermediate goods by 8.2 percent, and non-durable consumer goods by 7.9 percent.
