Costs for a Family of Four in October Lower than in September

The trade union basket of the Independent Croatian Trade Unions (NHS) shows that the minimum living costs for a family of four in October amounted to 6,599.90 kuna, which is 0.06 percent lower than in September.

The average salary for August was 5,267 kuna, covering 79.80 percent of the average basket, which is 0.58 percent lower than the previous month. The basket did not include education costs (purchase of school books and supplies), health (medications, etc.), annual vacations, and sports activities. The trade union basket for tenants amounted to 8,405.82 kuna, with coverage of the basket by the average net salary at 62.66 percent. The basket for a household with two retirees in Zagreb amounted to 3,558.54 kuna, which is 0.04 percent lower than in September. The coverage of the basket by the average pension was 61.05 percent, which is 0.02 percent higher than in September. The average pension for September was 2,172.48 kuna, and 50.4 percent of retirees received a pension of up to 2,000 kuna. Among cities, the highest minimum living costs were in Pula (7,222.59 kuna) and Vukovar (6,992.58 kuna), while the lowest were in Varaždin (6,184.76 kuna) and Osijek (6,294.61 kuna).(H)
