The State Electoral Commission (DIP) has received 19 candidacies for the President of the Republic of Croatia, and it will decide on their validity within 48 hours, stated the president of the DIP, Branko Hrvatin, shortly after midnight.
For their candidacy to be valid and for them to enter the electoral competition for the presidency, candidates must have the signatures of at least ten thousand citizens. According to unofficial data, a sufficient number of signatures has been submitted by 13 candidates: Milan Bandić, Damir Kajin, Nadan Vidošević, Andrija Hebrang, Ivo Josipović, Vesna Pusić, Josip Jurčević, Dragan Primorac, Miroslav Tuđman, Boris Mikšić, Veljko Džakula, Vesna Škare Ožbolt, and Slavko Vukšić.
