The Administrative Council of the Rijeka Port Authority has extended the concession for basic port activities and other economic activities to the company Luka Rijeka d.d. in the so-called Rijeka, Bakar, and Raša basins for 30 years, that is, until 2042, it was learned today from the Port.
The company "Jadranska vrata," which is wholly owned by Luka, has also had its concession for economic activities at the Brajdica container terminal extended for 30 years, that is, until 2041. The Port Authority announced that the extension of these concessions ensures economic activity for a longer period and enables planned investments for the improvement of operations and increase in traffic of these companies. The decision to extend the primary concessions for the Port of Rijeka for basic and other economic activities was made in the middle of this week based on the Law on Maritime Domain and Seaports and with the consent of the Government.
The decision on the extension will apply from 2012, that is, after the expiration of the primary contracts on the primary concession.
The primary contract on the primary concession for port activities was signed by the Rijeka Port Authority and Luka Rijeka in September 2000, and the contract on the concession for other economic activities in December 2000, both for a period of 12 years. The decision on the extension of the concession for "Jadranska vrata" will apply from 2011, after the expiration of the primary concession contract, signed in November 2001 for a period of 10 years.
