Mirjana Krizmanić ‘Zagrepčanka godine’

The City Assembly of Zagreb decided at today’s session to award the ‘Zagrepčanka godine’ prize to Professor Mirjana Krizmanić.

The City Assembly also accepted the decision to amend the Statute, related to changes in electoral laws and the introduction of local committees into the Statute. Points related to local elections were also accepted – proposals for decisions on the boundaries of areas and the seats of city districts and the establishment of local committees, as well as the election of members of city district councils and members of local committee councils. An Urban Development Plan (UPU) for Brezje-south zone was also adopted at the session. This plan covers approximately four hectares along the northern regulatory line of Slavonska Avenue. The UPU envisions the retention of multi-family buildings up to six stories with the possibility of replacement and reconstruction. It plans exclusively for business purposes for buildings up to 10 stories, and the construction of a gas station is possible along Slavonska Avenue. A smaller public park and a protective green belt towards Slavonska Avenue are also planned.

City representatives are currently discussing the proposal for the Decision on the lease of publicly rented apartments. The President of the City Assembly, Tatjana Holjevac, rated this point as one of the most important at today’s session, and it has generated significant interest, especially among young people, as the city of Zagreb is renting out apartments it has built for the first time. Several amendments have been submitted to this point, including one from the Youth Council of the City of Zagreb, which requests that the educational status of citizens be evaluated, and from the Youth Committee, which demands that only people residing in Zagreb and who do not own property in Croatia participate in this competition. SDP representative Ivana Mlinar-Horvat is proposing an amendment that would award older individuals who have not yet resolved their housing issue one point for each year of life to give them a chance to participate in the competition.
