Adrial invests over 36 million euros in TLM

The new owner of Šibenik’s TLM, the domestic consortium Adrial, has decided to invest 36.5 million euros in factory facilities precisely at a time of crisis. New technology is their only prerequisite for better competitiveness in the global market, so TLM, export-oriented, wants to be ready for new business challenges when the global crisis ends, writes the portal hrt.hr

New machines in TLM’s rolling mill and pressing plant are necessary for increasing production as some of the current ones were made before World War II, and it is a miracle to expect profitable operations from them. For almost more than 20 years, there has been no investment in the metallurgical sector of the Croatian economy, so TLM refers to this investment as new industrialization.

They believe that the time of crisis is the right moment to invest in new machines. Due to the modernization and automation of the rolling mill, it will no longer be necessary for part of the production processes to be performed manually. At a time when workers are fighting to preserve jobs, Šibenik’s TLM is an example of a company from which workers would like to leave. Namely, due to good severance packages, which amount to 5000 kuna per year of service – those who have around 30 years or more would rather leave the factory.

The management is willing to give the green light to such individuals, but only if their expertise will not be needed in the production process. With the new reorganization, TLM will no longer exist as a single company but will be divided into 3 separate entities: the Factory of Pressed Products, the Factory of Rolled Products, and TLM-Invest.
