The Croatian telecommunications company Vipnet will offer one of the currently most sought-after multimedia devices in the world, the BlackBerry Storm, to the Croatian market at the beginning of March this year. The device features a touch-sensitive screen that allows, among other things, internet browsing and constant access to email at high speeds, as announced at today’s Vipnet conference during the Mobile World Congress (GSMA Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona.
This ‘smartphone’ began selling worldwide in November last year and is the first such device from the British manufacturer Research In Motion-RIM, ordered for Vodafone and its partners, of which Vipnet is one in Croatia. The first months of sales of this device have shown great interest from both private and business users, and it can already be estimated that it is one of the fastest-selling types of BlackBerry, currently used by about 21 million people worldwide, said Robert Perin, RIM’s director responsible for Vodafone Europe. The CEO of Vipnet, Mladen Pejković, emphasized that they want to contribute to the development of wireless broadband in Croatia with such devices, in which they are, he added, leading. In addition to Vipnet, the Croatian geoinformation group Gisdata is also present at the congress in Barcelona, which is a traditional exhibitor, considering it a good move and an opportunity to establish new contacts and make deals.
