120 Winemakers at the Wine-Gastronomy Event of the Year

The second Zagreb Wine Gourmet Festival, which will take place on February 27 and 28 at the Museum of Arts and Crafts (MUO) in Zagreb, will host 120 top winemakers, including about 50 domestic ones from Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, and Serbia, as well as 20 chefs who will present delicacies reflecting the latest trends in gastronomy during a culinary show.

The company Laniva, the organizer of the festival which was declared the wine-gastronomy event of the year last year, is bringing interesting guests, including Californian writer and author of the book A Taste of Croatia, Karen Evenden, who will prepare her favorite Croatian recipes, and Lynne Sherriff, vice president of the elite association Masters of Wine, who will conduct a workshop on successful branding of South African wines.

According to announcements from Laniva’s director, Ingrid Badurine Danielsson, visitors will be able to taste nearly 500 of the best wines for a daily ticket price of 150 kuna, as well as sample delicacies from the best small producers. The festival is also expected to attract numerous caterers, hoteliers, F&B managers, food and beverage distributors, and others. Wines from domestic and international exhibitors, workshops, and the culinary show will take place in various rooms of the MUO, with guided and specialized tastings at the Westin Hotel, while the Emerald Hall of the Regent Esplanade Hotel will host gala dinners for participants and guests of the festival.

Laniva has held the wine-gastronomy festival in Split for the past four years, after which, in collaboration with renowned sommelier Željko Bročilović Carlos, the event was moved to Zagreb, and last year the first Zagreb Wine Gourmet Festival at Mimara hosted around two and a half thousand visitors. In addition to MUO, tickets for the festival can be purchased at the sales centers of festival partners and at the offices of adriatica.net. (Željka Laslavić)
