Bond trading six times higher than stock trading

Total trading in shares on the ZSE amounted to only 20.5 million kuna, with a slight increase in the Crobex of 0.35 percent, closing at 1,620 points. Only four securities had a turnover exceeding one million kuna, among which Atlantska plovidba stood out with a growth of more than five percent.

A gloomy mood prevailed among investors for most of the trading day. The morning began with a drop in the prices of a large number of shares, but as the day progressed, things improved, and the Crobex ended up in a slight plus. The most liquid was HT with a turnover of seven million kuna and a price increase of 0.21 percent, closing at 217 kuna.

Atlantska plovidba was traded for a total of 3.5 million kuna with a significant price increase of 5.04 percent. The Dalekovod share collected 1.5 million kuna in turnover with a slight price increase of 0.68 percent compared to yesterday. The last “millionaire” of the day was the share of the Institute of Construction of Croatia, which, with a turnover of 1.2 million kuna, increased by 2.62 percent. Among other shares, it is worth mentioning the TOZ share, which unexpectedly jumped among the more liquid ones. Although this security was down by about twenty percent during the day, it ended with a loss of 4.76 percent and a total turnover of 660 thousand kuna.

What is surprising is the increasing turnover in bonds, an asset class that has been quite unattractive to investors due to low yields. Rijeka Promet, Odašljač i veze, Jadrolinija, Konstruktor, Zagreb-Montaža, Jadran-galenski laboratorij, and the bonds of the City of Rijeka and the Republic of Croatia achieved a turnover of 161 million kuna on Tuesday, which is six times higher than all shares combined.
